MINNEAPOLIS, March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee (MNSBHC) today officially opened its application process for its team of volunteers, known as Crew 52. MNSBHC is seeking up to 10,000 volunteers to assist in welcoming more than one million guests expected to visit our region during the ten days of festivities leading up to Super Bowl LII, to be held on February 4, 2018.

Beginning today, volunteers can log on to www.mnsuperbowl.com/Crew52 to apply and begin the process to join the Crew 52 team.

Former Minnesota Vikings Linebacker Chad Greenway, now serving as Captain of Crew 52, first made the announcement today in an email to subscribers to the Host Committee's Fan Email list. The text of that email follows:

Fan Email subscribers were first-to-know when volunteer registration opened this morning. Chad's 'Bold School' video that accompanied the email can be viewed here.

"Volunteers are a critical part of ensuring each and every guest who travels to take part in Super Bowl LII has a memorable time," said Maureen Bausch, CEO of the MNSBHC. "For our guests, our Crew 52 volunteers will be their first warm welcome when they arrive in Minnesota, and their last goodbye. It's one of the many ways we're working to ensure that their Super Bowl visit will be one of many our guests make to Minnesota."

Previous Super Bowl host cities have seen a marked uptick in visits, meeting and convention bookings in the years immediately following successfully hosting the game.

Crew 52 volunteers are required to go through an application process, including a background check, interview, and training sessions, before serving during the ten days of festivities leading up to Game Day. Volunteers will help the MNSBHC welcome the more than one million expected guests to our region, serving at public gathering points such as airports, skyways, hotels, and MNSBHC events, to ensure the best guest experience during their time in Minnesota. Volunteers are not needed inside the stadium on Game Day.

Crew 52 volunteers will be asked to serve a minimum of three shifts of between four and six hours each. Benefits for volunteers include a free winter-ready uniform. A full list of frequently asked questions is available on the MNSBHC website, www.mnsuperbowl.com/Crew52. The Crew 52 volunteer program is supported by Cub Kindness.

"As we travel across Minnesota, the most frequently asked question we get is about volunteering," said Bausch. "Minnesotans who volunteered at 1992's Super Bowl festivities often share their souvenirs and memories from an important part of our state's history. We are excited to help make memories for a new generation."
