A Healthy Legacy for Minnesota Kids

For the first time ever, children born today have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. We need to get kids moving again. Eating better. Building lifelong habits. That’s why the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee is turning this one-day event into a lasting legacy. To build a healthier, more active, life-changing future for all of Minnesota’s children, focused on three key areas – fun, fuel, and fundamentals.

The Legacy Fund is a 501C3, community advised fund of the Minnesota Community Foundation. Working in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health’s Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) and based on the recommendations of SHIP’s community heath boards, the Legacy Fund is providing 52 grants to 52 community projects across our state over the 52 weeks leading up to Super Bowl LII.

The work of the Legacy Fund is made possible by Minnesota’s philanthropic community, including foundations, corporations, and individual donors who share our passion for improving the health and wellness of kids from every corner of our state. If your organization is interested in giving to be part of the Legacy Fund, please contact Dana Nelson.

52 Weeks of Giving

We’re counting down to Super Bowl LII with 52 Weeks of Giving. Each week, we are providing a grant to a community in Minnesota that is committed to improving the health and wellness of our state’s children. These grants, chosen in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health’s SHIP program, are focused on improving access and creating healthy behaviors for a lifetime, whether it's access to physical activity or nutritious food.

Visit our site every week to learn about this week’s grant recipient, and how they are working in their community to improve the health and wellness of Minnesota’s kids.

Super School Breakfast

Nothing fuels learning like a healthy breakfast. The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee’s Super School Breakfast is a campaign to implement Fuel Up to Play 60’s Breakfast-in-the-Classroom program in elementary, middle and high schools in 52 communities statewide leading up to Super Bowl LII. By delivering resources to make Breakfast-in-the-Classroom a reality, more kids will have access to healthy, nutritious food that will give them a productive start and help them power through a healthy and active day.
